MASUDEM Holds Training to Improve Soft Skills of FEB UGM Lecturers

To strengthen the soft skills of the lecturers in the Master of Sustainable Management (MASUDEM) Program, the MASUDEM consortium conducted a five-day training from August 5 to 9, 2024. The training, held online via Zoom, was led by Andrej Privara, Ing., PhD., from the University of Economics in Bratislava. The training covered important areas such as Motivation, Time Management, Stress Management, Conflict Resolution, and Effective Communication.
The first session aimed to focused on motivation, inviting participants to explore the significance of both internal and external motivation in achieving personal and professional goals. Through interactive activities, participants learned to identify and leverage motivating factors to improve their outcomes. The training also delved into effective time management techniques, as well as ways of planning, organizing, and prioritizing strategies. Using tools like priority matrices and distraction management techniques, participants were equipped to enhance productivity without compromising the quality of their work.
The second session aimed at addressing workplace challenges. This session focused on conflict resolution and provided participants with tools and strategies to resolve conflicts effectively to foster a more harmonious working relationship. The session emphasized the importance of open communication and empathy in managing disputes. The stress management session highlighted the significance of maintaining mental and emotional well-being at work. Participants were trained to recognize signs of stress and being introduced to relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises and short meditations, which they can incorporate into their daily routines.
The final session focused on developing practical communication skills. Participants practiced active listening and learned to convey messages clearly and appropriately, improving their ability to interact professionally.
The participants, including lecturers and research assistants from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), provided positive feedback. They noted that the skills acquired during the training were directly impacted their work routines. It is hoped that this training will enhance the soft skills of FEB UGM’s lecturers and research assistants, enabling them to perform their duties more effectively.
