Are you considering furthering your education at Master or Doctoral level? The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) offers ten outstanding programs that could be the perfect choice for your graduate studies.
Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FEB UGM, stated that FEB UGM offers 10 graduate programs. At the Master’s level, FEB UGM enrolls around 450 students in seven programs: Master in Accounting (MAKSI), Master in Economics and Development (MEP), Master in Management (MM) Yogyakarta Campus, Master in Management (MM) Jakarta Campus, Master of Science in Accounting (MSi), Master of Science in Economics (MSi), and Master of Science in Management (MSi).
“For doctoral programs, FEB UGM offers three fields: Accounting, Management, and Economics, with a quota of about 30 students per year in the odd semester,” he explained during the #UGMUpdate Socialization of the Socio-Humanities Graduate Program Cluster event on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, which was broadcast online via Instagram Live, YouTube, and Facebook.
During the session, Bayu explained the admission process for FEB UGM’s graduate programs. Prospective students must go through several stages of selection, including the PAPS test (minimum score of 525), an English test (minimum score of 500), interviews, and a research proposal presentation. In addition, prospective students must take a validation and competency test to determine whether they need to matriculate or can enter the regular program directly.
Regarding tuition fees, FEB UGM offers different rates depending on the level of study, course options, and campus location. Bayu mentioned that FEB UGM offers regular, executive, and international classes at the Yogyakarta and Jakarta campuses.
Regarding the length of study, Bayu explained that FEB UGM had designed the Master’s program to last 4 semesters. However, in the regular class, students can complete it in 1.5 years, with the first two semesters focusing on theory. The third semester focuses on research and dissertation preparation, depending on the student’s readiness. Similarly, the doctoral program is structured over 4 semesters and includes a publication requirement.
“For you, friends of the UGM, don’t worry about the duration of your studies. Time is not measured in years or months, but in how much experience and learning we gain on campus,” he said.
FEB UGM also actively promotes internationalization through various programs, including double degrees, student exchanges, and international exposure. Funding for international programs is available through several scholarships, including LPDP, partner university scholarships, and Pusbindiklatren Bappenas. The Master’s program offers a double degree program that allows students to earn two degrees: one from UGM and one from 14 international partner universities. Meanwhile, the Master’s program also offers international exposure through an exchange program that allows students to study at more than 70 partner universities for one semester.
“For international exposure, students can participate in activities such as summer weeks or short courses,” he added.
FEB UGM also offers various scholarships for prospective and admitted students. There are two types of scholarships: those provided by external institutions and those offered by FEB UGM. Scholarships offered by companies or institutions include BPI, LPDP, and the Karyasiswa Scholarship. Scholarships offered by FEB UGM are highly competitive, including the Future Leadership Scholarship, which offers full and partial tuition waivers and is open to both new and existing students.
So, friends of FEB UGM, are you interested in continuing your postgraduate studies at FEB UGM with all the advantages it offers? We look forward to welcoming you to FEB UGM! For more information on FEB UGM’s graduate programs, visit feb.ugm.ac.id or um.ugm.ac.id.
