At the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), there is an accelerated study program, commonly known as the fast track program, allowing students to complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years. Currently, the Fast Track Program at FEB UGM is available for the Master of Science in Accounting program.

Students in this fast-track program face challenges in managing their time due to the busy course schedules. This is the case for Anawinta Choirunnisa, a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in accounting who joined the fast-track program in 2023. How is Winta navigating this demanding journey? Let’s dive into her story!

Chasing Dreams

Since high school, Winta has dreamed of studying at FEB UGM. From her first steps on campus, she felt that FEB UGM provided an environment conducive to academic and personal development.

“In addition to its widely recognized quality of teaching, FEB UGM also offers various exciting opportunities for students to excel professionally,” she recently shared.

Driven by her desire to achieve the highest level of education, Winta set her sights on a Master’s degree. As she entered her final year of undergraduate studies, she learned about FEB UGM’s fast-track program, which seemed like a golden opportunity.

“At first, I didn’t get my hopes up because the application period was sudden and tight. But opportunities like this can only come once. Besides, there’s no harm in trying – it’s better to try it and avoid future regrets,” Winta explained.

Winta described her motivation for joining the Fast Track Program. Of course, The main reason was to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in less time than the regular track. The program also offered scholarships.

Challenges and Time Management Strategies

Pursuing a bachelor’s and master’s degree simultaneously is no easy feat. Winta shared that her most significant challenge in the accelerated program was time management.

“The biggest challenge for me is time management. It feels like 24 hours a day isn’t enough to complete everything. My principle is that if there’s something to work on, don’t stop trying,” she said.

She stressed the importance of finding the right rhythm to balance both programs. Although initially tricky, Winta eventually adapted and managed her time effectively by planning her studies and prioritizing tasks.

Tips and Tricks

Winta shared some tips for students interested in the Fast Track Program. The first step is to learn about the application process and prepare the necessary documents as early as possible. Then, strive to do your best at each stage of the selection process.

“The first and most important thing is strengthening your resolve and preparing your determination and commitment. Get everything ready and maximize your efforts at every stage of the selection process. Then, fight and do your best throughout the journey,” Winta explained.

She also encouraged the students not to hesitate to take bold steps to pursue the highest level of education.

“Don’t be afraid to dream big and strive for the highest level of education while continuing to learn. Believe in your potential, take a step forward, and seize every opportunity that can serve as a bridge to your dreams,” she concluded.
