Another student from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), has made another proud achievement. Ericha Mellyana (Management 2023), a FEB UGM student and member of the Tiers’ O team, successfully secured 2nd Place along with the Most Valuable Player (MVP Winner) title at the BCA Business Case Competition 2025, held on August 27โ30, 2025, at Menara BCA, Jakarta.
PT Bank Central Asia Tbk organized the competition. (BCA), attracted more than 700 participants in the preliminary stage, with only the top 30 finalists advancing to the final round. These finalists came from prestigious universities across Indonesia, including Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, Universitas Udayana, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and Binus University.
For this competition, finalists had to solve real business cases presented by BCA, especially those related to merchant services. The main challenge revolved around developing long-term loyalty between merchants and customers within Indonesia’s financial ecosystem, including optimizing QRIS usage. Participants formulated strategies to enable BCA to remain a key partner for merchants and individual customers.
The preliminary round required participants to submit video-based solutions. In contrast, in the final round, participants were randomly grouped into cross-university teams to develop their ideas into a PowerPoint presentation. With limited time, the finalists had to combine analytical skills, creativity, and sustainable marketing strategies.
Ericha and her two teammates from different universities, Alexander Que (Binus University) and Felicia Sword (Universitas Ciputra Surabaya), faced their biggest challenge in the final stage.
“We had to immediately collaborate with team members from different universities, each with diverse backgrounds and ways of thinking. In such a short time, we had to come together and produce the best strategy.” Ericha explained.
The competition assessed the quality of solutions and evaluated participants’ enthusiasm and active involvement. Over the four days, the finalists went through a packed agenda, including mentoring sessions, hackathons, and the final presentations.
“The real challenge was how to stand out and deliver our best contributions among 30 other outstanding participants,” she added.
The Tiers’ O team successfully won 2nd Place, while Ericha was individually honored with the MVP Winner title. She expressed her gratitude for the achievements and hoped to continue contributing more.
“I am truly grateful. It was my first competition directly held by a major corporation, and being able to return with two awards is an extraordinary blessing. I hope that in the future, there will be more opportunities to bring honor to FEB UGM at both national and international levels,” said Ericha.
