Students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), have the opportunity to participate in student exchange and double-degree programs at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. The opportunities are offered through academic programs in International Finance and Accounting (IFA) and International Business (IB), with study schemes that allow students to pursue their education at both UGM and Saxion University.
The opportunity was highlighted during an information session on student exchange and double-degree programs with Saxion University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, held on Friday (25/09/2026). The session was part of FEB UGM’s efforts to expand students’ access to international learning experiences and academic environments.
Program Director of International Finance and Accounting at Saxion University, Dennis Vossen, explained that Saxion University is a public university in the Netherlands that was established in 1875. Saxion has 3,000 international students from more than 80 countries.
Dennis Vossen explained that Saxion University offers exchange and double degree programs in economics and business through two study programs: International Finance and Accounting (IFA) and International Business (IB).
Under the double degree scheme, students will complete their first six semesters at UGM before continuing their studies for two semesters at Saxion University. Upon fulfilling all academic requirements, students have the opportunity to earn two degrees: a Bachelor of Economics (S.E.) from UGM and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Saxion University.
“Saxion University also provides various support services for international students, including assistance in finding accommodation, visa processing, and cultural orientation activities to help students adapt to life in the Netherlands,” he explained.
Saxion University has campuses in three major cities: Enschede, Deventer, and Apeldoorn. Its multicultural academic environment provides students with opportunities to interact with peers from various countries.
According to Dennis Vossen, studying at Saxion can also open up various opportunities after graduation. Graduates can pursue a master’s degree, enter the workforce in the Netherlands in accordance with applicable regulations, or return to Indonesia to continue their careers.
“Students who graduate from Saxion University will have various options after completing their studies. They can pursue a master’s degree, explore career opportunities in the Netherlands, or return to Indonesia,” he said.
