AUN BE Annual Meeting 2025

The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) hosted the ASEAN University Network for Business and Economics Annual General Meeting 2025 (AUN-BE AGM). The FEB UGM Master of Management Campus in Jakarta hosted the event on January 16–17, 2025.

AUN-BE AGM 2025 brought together 10 AUN-BE members located in ASEAN countries that are members of AUN-BE, namely Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This meeting is a means for AUN-BE members to discuss strategic agendas and strengthen cooperation in economics and business education.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Ak., CA, in his speech, highlighted the importance of collaboration in reviving the AUN-BE network after the COVID-19 pandemic. This agenda is essential to strengthening cooperation among AUN-BE members in the future.
“As ASEAN universities, we have an urgent mission to develop education in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” he stated online on Thursday (16/01).

On this occasion, Didi also welcomed the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as a partner of AUN-BE. GRI has been actively involved in various activities throughout 2024, including managing a project entitled Integrating Sustainability and Sustainability Reporting in ASEAN Universities (ISSR-ASEAN), which the Swiss government funds through the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. The project offers scholarships for AUN-BE faculty members interested in sustainability issues, provides free learning through webinars for all AUN-BE students and faculty, and research grants on Leveraging Sustainability Reporting for Enhanced Academic Engagement in Responsible Business Conduct.

Through this positive and impactful collaboration, Didi hopes to become a beacon of movement and innovation that contributes to the global community for the common good. By leveraging their respective strengths and expertise, AUN-BE members can create a more inclusive and dynamic educational ecosystem to support an interconnected world.

Head of the Global Relations and Mobility Unit (GREAT), Arizona Mustikarini, Ph.D., explained that the AUN-BE 2025 AGM is a forum that brings together AUN-BE members to provide a comprehensive overview of the network’s activities over the past year, discuss ongoing initiatives, and set the direction for the coming period. The meeting also aims to strengthen member engagement, increase accountability, and provide a space for transparent communication with stakeholders.

During the Forum, the panel discussed “Integrating Sustainability Reporting within the Academic Framework” with GRI. There was also a presentation by the AUN-BE Secretariat, a discussion on efforts to reactivate AUN-BE, and the selection of hosts for the 2026 AUN-BE Annual General Meeting.
