The CIA Ventures team—comprising Clea Amabelle (Accounting IUP 2022), Azalia Ilma Irfani (Accounting IUP 2022), and Alif Hasan Ramadhan (Regular Accounting 2022)—achieved an outstanding victory by securing 1st place in the OCBC Ventura National Investment Competition 2025 (ONVIC). OCBC Ventura organized the competition, which drew 135 teams from 61 local and international universities, showcasing high talent and competitiveness.
Clea Amabelle explained that the competition required teams to undergo several rigorous selection stages. In the preliminary February 25, 2025 round, teams submitted an investment proposal analyzing a promising startup. The top 15 teams advanced to the semifinals on March 12, 2025, where they presented their selected startup online to a panel of judges. Finally, the top five teams competed in the final round, which was held in person at OCBC Tower on March 21, 2025.
“We chose NalaGenetics, a healthcare startup focusing on personalized healthcare through DNA testing. We chose this startup based on the growing trend in the healthcare industry and its promising prospects,” explained Clea.
To strengthen their research, the team turned to NalaGenetics for in-depth information to support their investment proposal. After a mentoring session on March 17, 2025, they refined their presentation strategy and investment thesis, ultimately securing the championship title in the final round.
The team members faced challenges throughout the competition while balancing academic responsibilities, internships, and organizational leadership roles. Alif Hasan Ramadhan, for example, had to manage his time while interning at an accounting firm during the busy season.
“Many of the participants in this competition were people I knew, so there was extra pressure to perform at our best and bring home the trophy after all our sacrifices,” said Clea.
The FEB UGM faculty and the team’s knowledge gained from lectures and organizational experience played a crucial role in shaping their investment strategy and business analysis, contributing to their success.
“We are incredibly relieved and proud to bring honor to our alma mater. Our sacrifices have not been in vain. In addition, this competition has opened up valuable career opportunities, including possible internships at OCBC Ventura,” said Clea.
