Two undergraduate students of Faculty of Economics and Business UGM has successfully claimed the “Champion” and “2nd runner up” trophy in the Maybank Go Ahead. Challenge 2018 which was held by Maybank on 5th until 15th August 2018 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dharmawan Santosa (Economics 2016) who was part of the S Club 7 team, together with other 4 global finalists from Hongkong, Malaysia and Singapore, has successfully emerged as the Global Champion after defeating other 9 teams. Other FEB UGM student, Ayasha Kirana Nusantoro (Economics-IUP 2015) who was part of the Spice Girls, together with other 4 global finalists from Malaysia, UK and India, has successfully won the 2nd runner up in this global competition.

Maybank Go Ahead. Challenge itself is an annual global business competition held by Maybank where all finalists were tested from different aspects, both physically and mentally. This year, the top 50 global finalists of this competition came from 12 different nationalities and from the best universities all over the world, such as University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, Imperial College London, Monash University, Swisburne University of Technology, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, City University of Hongkong, Chinese University of Hongkong, American University of Phnom Penh, Thammasat University, Asia Pasific University, University of Nottingham and many more.

Participants from this competition is not limited to undergraduate students, therefore, both Dharmawan and Ayasha have to compete with post-graduate students, fresh graduates and young professionals with less than two years of working experience too in this competition.

“To be honest, compared to other competitions that I’ve been participating in previously, the competition level of this Maybank Go Ahead. Challenge is on a completely different and higher level, as we can see that most of the finalists have impressive backgrounds and track records even before this competition, like you can’t really underestimate anyone here, and from the assessment we received during the competition, it’s really tough and challenging, both physically and mentally”, Dharmawan said.
