The State Finance Polytechnic of the National College of Accountancy (PKN STAN) this year will be holding the 2023 National Tax Fair (PRPN) offline after being kept online for a long time. In 2023, the theme is“Achieving Levies Harmony upon Economic Outlook”. FEB UGM students participate in a series of activities from PRPN 2023, namely the National Tax Debate Competition (KDPN), whose registration has been open since April 1 2023. KDPN itself is one of the main events of PRPN, which has been held since 2017. The purpose of this activity is to test knowledge of taxation through debate by discussing actual issues of taxation in Indonesia as a means of contesting ideas for university students in Indonesia.
The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM is represented by the Sleman Tax Consulting Team, Dzaky Ramadani, Feby Olivia Sinaga, and Akila Kirana Ratri, all 2020 Accounting students. KDPN 2023 has several series, from participant registration, preliminary round, and semifinals until finals. Participants were asked to work on multiple-choice questions regarding taxation, customs and excise matters in the preliminary round. After that, 12 of the 50 best teams were selected to participate in the next round, namely the semifinals, by writing essays and presentations on taxation, customs and excise policies for sustainable development. The Sleman Tax Consulting team presented "The Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations: The Problems of Delaying the Implementation of Carbon Taxes in Indonesia".
From the presentations held, four teams were chosen to proceed to the final round, namely the debate. The system used is the Asian Parliamentary Format, and motions will be given before the discussion starts. The arguments of the four teams competed against each other to find a winner in the competition. The announcement was made on May 13 2023, and the Sleman Tax Consulting Team won 3rd place at the 2023 KPDN.
Dzaky, one of the winners, shared his experience preparing for the competition. The team spent a month preparing to qualify for the preliminary round and a short time to compose the essay. Dzaky said that the issues raised were very in-depth, and the participants he opposed were students with high abilities. Even so, the Sleman Tax Consulting Team won 3rd place because of their increased solidarity. We congratulate the team on the win.
