The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UGM welcomed a delegation from National Chengchi University (NCCU) Taiwan at the Kertanegara Meeting Room on Friday, February 14, 2025. The meeting focused on potential collaborations in research and education, along with an information session on NCCU’s Ph.D. program.
FEB UGM’s Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., extended a warm welcome to the NCCU delegation and expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration.
“We hope to learn from NCCU and identify common areas for collaboration moving forward,” he stated on Friday (2/14).
Discussions centered on potential partnerships, particularly in joint supervision and research, with an emphasis on finance and the integration of technology in business. The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in marketing and business was also a key topic.
Dr. Sahid Nugroho, M.Sc., Head of the Master of Science in Management program at FEB UGM, underscored the importance of incorporating AI and machine learning in business and digital marketing. He highlighted that partnering with NCCU, a university renowned for its expertise in business technology, is a strategic move to enhance graduate competencies.
The meeting continued with an information session on NCCU’s Ph.D. program, presented by representatives from five departments of NCCU’s Business Faculty: Kendro Vincent (Department of Finance and Banking), Wuchun Chi (Department of Accounting), Dennis Hsu (Department of Business Administration), Hong Yi Chen (Department of Management and Information Systems), and Yu Chien Chang (Graduate School of Technology, Innovation, and Intellectual Property Management), along with administrative staff member Yen Chun Lin.
NCCU, an EQUIS- and AACSB-accredited business school, introduced its Ph.D. program, covering key aspects such as the application process, course offerings, concentrations, tuition fees, and scholarship opportunities.
For students without personal funding, three scholarship schemes are available: a two-year scholarship from NCCU of $20,000 per month, a three-year scholarship of $25,000 per month, and additional funding options such as the NSTC scholarship from the Taiwanese government, which provides $40,000 per month for three years.
General admission requirements for NCCU include English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS/KET/PET/FCE). Additionally, prospective students must submit a study plan, autobiography, research proposal, and curriculum vitae (CV). Those interested in pursuing a doctoral program at NCCU can access the complete application requirements through the NCCU website.
