The Master of Development Economics Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (MEP FEB UGM) and the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (MAPPI) agreed to extend their cooperation on Monday (7/07/2025) at the Kertanegara Meeting Room, FEB UGM. This extension covers implementing the master’s education program and valuation certification.
Previously, MEP UGM and MAPPI had established this partnership in the same field since July 2021. The extension is part of FEB UGM’s effort to improve the quality of its graduates and respond to industry needs.
Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni of FEB UGM, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., expressed appreciation for the long-term relationship between MEP FEB UGM and MAPPI. He stated that this collaboration is expected to strengthen MEP FEB UGM’s position in the field of development economics education.
“This partnership demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving the learning process to meet labor market demands. It sends a positive signal that we will keep improving to produce even better graduates,” he said.
Gumilang added that FEB UGM is open to wider collaborations in other areas, such as internship programs that reach major cities and the Yogyakarta Special Region and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of MAPPI, Budy Prasojo, M.Ec.Dev., MAPPI (Cert.), said that working with MEP FEB UGM is about adding value and knowledge to students.
‘At our office, dozens of MEP FEB UGM alumni work in various strategic sectors, including government and banking. It has been proven that MEP graduates are in high demand,” he said.
As a form of giving back, MAPPI offers internship opportunities for MEP FEB UGM students to gain deeper work experience. Budy emphasized the importance of strengthening internship programs to maximize student benefits. He also suggested extending the internship duration, especially for MEP FEB UGM students, to ensure they understand valuation practices comprehensively, as internships that are too short are deemed insufficient.
Furthermore, Budy hopes that this collaboration will encourage student research that is more relevant and integrated, and that is therefore better aligned with industry needs. According to him, student contributions in research can enrich valuable knowledge in Indonesia and impact the profession’s development.
Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com., Ak., CA., welcomed MAPPI’s input. He stressed that feedback from industry is vital to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and capable of producing graduates ready to face real-world challenges. He affirmed that advancing research in various fields will also be the faculty’s next focus, ensuring that the curriculum stays aligned with practical demands.
“We hope that FEB UGM graduates will not only carry the slogan of a ‘world-class campus’ but also remain grounded, impactful, and uphold high integrity. An impactful campus is not just about becoming a world-class university but also about playing a real role in solving national problems and contributing to economic growth through innovation and technology,” he explained.
Didi also expressed his appreciation for MEP alums who have excelled in various sectors, demonstrating their outstanding quality as national university graduates. He added that signing this agreement is part of FEB UGM’s continuous improvement efforts and cross-sector collaboration to produce adaptive, visionary, and solution-oriented graduates.
