BRI Entrepreneurial Community Program

Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) in collaboration with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) conducted a program “BRI Entrepreneurial Community.” This cooperation agreement has been carried out symbolically on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 at the auditorium of Pertamina Tower 6th floor, Faculty of Economics and Business University of Gadjah Mada, Jl. Sosio Humaniora No.1 Bulaksumur Yogyakarta. The signing was witnessed by the Director MSME BRI, Djarot Kusumayakti and from the University of Gadjah Mada was witnessed by Vice Rector for Finance and Information Systems Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., Akt., M.Com

The deal, which occurred between FEB UGM with BRI, include:

  1. FEB UGM with BRI organize BRI Entrepreneurial Community Program intended for students and fresh graduate of Universitas Gadjah Mada
  2. BRI provides support through BRI Community Development Fund for Product Development Research in an effort to develop innovative businesses in the manufacturing sector with the scale of MSME.
  3. FEB UGM became a facilitator in the provision of indoor facilities as a means of MSME Corner discussion activities to administrative consulting for program participants.
  4. FEB UGM supports the use of laboratories around the UGM as a means of product development research by the BRI Entrepreneurial Community participants.
  5. BRI Entrepreneurial Community Program participants are committed to developing products manufacturing research for regional economic development.

Increasingly, more and more Indonesian young people who have creative ideas but are able to balance time between academic work and social activities. Not infrequently the creative ideas are then developed into a new form of business that can improve the quality of the economy and create jobs. But unfortunately, their efforts are often constrained to issue capital.

Noting the condition of BRI and UGM, awakened to find a model that can motivate students and graduates to UGM induces conducive business ideas and can be realized in the real business world.

BRI Entrepreneurial Community Program was designed with the vision and mission of producing the best UGM student entrepreneurs with community spirited, resilient, innovative, and competitive. The aim is to promote an entrepreneurial spirit to students and young people and to encourage the best UGM students to become entrepreneurs can help create new jobs, especially in the areas of origin and to build synergies between the new entrepreneurs with the potential of Bank Rakyat Indonesia.

This provides many benefits to students, businesses, BRI and the Faculty itself. For students, for example; get a chance to realize their business ideas. For business, could strengthen the local economy. For BRI, can reinforce its image as Pro-MSME Bank, and regional youth. As for the Faculty itself is creating a mental students and alumni with job creators and encourage students to integrate science, research and practical.

To achieve this goal, FEB UGM with BRI did not hesitate to peg the number of academic GPA of 3.0 as a requirement to follow the program, the idea was pushed to the business and business-oriented areas to be constructed is a new venture for the success of the vision program.

BRI Entrepreneurial Community Program consists of three stages, namely the selection phase is performed by the Faculty, later stages of product development research conducted with the UGM assistance lecturer, using BRI Community Development Fund and the last is the stage of starting a business; where participants are required to submit a bankable proposal next to BRI partners. The expected outcome of this program is the creation of the BRI Entrepreneurial Community to be channeled to areas with large-scale prototype manufacturing MSME.
