There was something different about the atmosphere on Sunday morning (September 14, 2025) at the Plaza of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM). The harmonious sound of angklung filled the air, adding warmth and togetherness to the FEB UGM Family Fun Day (FFD) 2025.
The angklung performance, presented by the Angklung Manise Swara Community of FEB UGM, became even livelier as they played a lineup of cross-generational songs, including Tak Ingin Sendiri (Dian Piesesha), Rindu Aku Rindu Kamu (Dara Ayu), Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley), Anak Sekolah (Chrisye), Tabola Bale (Silet Open Up), and Selamat Ulang Tahun (Jamrud), under the direction of Asep Zery Kusmaya.
Shaking each angklung in unison transformed them into a harmonious ensemble that evoked a range of moods, from serene to cheerful and spirited. It’s no wonder the impressive performance received loud applause from the audience. Many even joined in by singing along, swaying, and celebrating togetherness, turning the angklung stage into more than just entertainment, a space to embrace unity.
The warmth grew stronger as members of the Angklung Manise Swara Community performed with great enthusiasm, including Mrs. Retno Bambang Riyanto, Mrs. Erna Gugup Kismono, Mrs. Wulan Rijadh, Mrs. Erna Budi Santoso, Mrs. Elin Rusdi Akbar, Mrs. Helly Bagus, Mrs. Mimik Makhfatih, Mrs. Esti Prakosa, Mrs. Yani Wakhid, Mrs. Rita Didi Achjari, Mrs. Vitra Amirullah, Mrs. Ndari Hani Handoko, and Mrs. Peny Insukindro. Following them were Mrs. Ine Lincolin, Mrs. Uyik Hardo, Mrs. Anna Budiono, Mrs. Ima Aviandi, Mrs. Eko Suwardi, Mrs. Fadillah, Mrs. Wahyu Suyanto, Mrs. Ita Mudrajad, Mrs. Dina Agus Sartono, Mrs. Puji Bowo Setiyono, Mrs. Ami Masykur, Mrs. Erlina Bayu Sutikno, and Mrs. Ana Wahib.
The melodious strains of angklung became a symbol of timeless warmth and togetherness. Amid the 70th anniversary and 14th lustrum celebrations, the resonating sound of bamboo reminded everyone that harmony requires each note to complement the others, much like the diverse FEB UGM family that continues to move forward together.
