As a member of the Master of Sustainable Development (MASUDEM) consortium, Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada played an essential role as a mapping study coordinator whose task was to coordinate the mapping of Master of Business Administration study programs in the ASEAN countries. The mapping study was included in the preparation stage of Work Package 1 (WP1), which aimed to conduct an in-depth assessment of the needs of partner universities and partner institutions. Subsequently, partner universities were encouraged to design curricula and determine the method for the MASUDEM concentration at their universities that fit their needs.
The mapping study report was presented and discussed at the Mapping and Contextual Workshop at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Seville, Spain, on Tuesday-Friday, 30 May-2 June 2023. Representatives from all consortium members from Spain, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech, Indonesia, and Thailand attended the workshop. However, due to immigration document constraints, UGM representatives could not participate in the offline workshop and hence, had to join online via MsTeam. UGM representatives who joined the workshop were Prof. Nurul Indarti, Sari Sitalaksmi, Ph.D., Boyke Purnomo, Ph.D., and Rocky Adiguna, Ph.D.
The agenda of this 4-day workshop on the first and second days was a mapping and contextual reports presentation by each university. At this event, Universitas Gadjah Mada proposed a Sustainability Management concentration focusing on sustainable organizational management in the environmental, social, and economic fields. Apart from the curricula and methods proposed by each university, MASUDEM also offered 13 core courses to be developed by the consortium members, which later will become compulsory courses for each concentration.
The agenda on the third day consisted of brainstorming and peer-reviewing from the external reviewers, who were experts and professionals and the internal reviewers, who were the consortium members. On the fourth day, a management meeting was conducted to discuss several issues, such as technical instructions regarding the roles and responsibilities of each member. Furthermore, MASUDEM informed the tasks for each member to organize training for teaching staff and administrative staff who will manage this concentration, to disseminate activities at both the national and international levels, and to prepare a sustainability plan for the sustainability of this program. Among other outcomes of the workshop, it was decided that the management meeting plans to be held in Yogyakarta in September 2023 with Universitas Gadjah Mada and the Islamic University of Indonesia as the host of the event.
