In the series of 68th Anniversary Sports Competitions of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), badminton also enlivened the sport. The badminton competition was held at the Leadership Hall of the Master of Management (MM) FEB UGM from 21 to 23 August 2023. Eight teams with members from the big family of FEB UGM graced the 68th Anniversary of FEB UGM: Team Adem, Ayem, Tentrem, Guyub, Rukun, Migunani, Elok, and Sembodo. Each team comprises two Men's Doubles and one Mixed Doubles without reserve players. These badminton athletes range from students and teaching staff to MM Hotel employees. Uniquely, Badminton for the 68th Anniversary of FEB UGM uses a ball transfer system with 30 game points instead of a rally system.
The preliminary matches started on Monday (21/8). The eight teams had prepared and carried out independent training before competing. Then, the match was exciting and competitive, but still full of fun and upholding sportsmanship. Then, the teams that qualified for the semifinals continued on to the semifinals until the final on Tuesday (22/8). The teams Tentrem, Adem, Rukun and Sembodo, who managed to advance to the semifinals, competed against each other. After a series of matches, the Sembodo Team managed to come out in First Place after winning two of the three matches, defeating the Tentrem Team with a score of 30 - 23 and 30 - 0 in both Men's Doubles, even though they lost to the Tentrem Team 9 - 30 in the Mixed Doubles match. This placed the Tentrem Team in Second Place. Meanwhile, in the match for third place, Team Rukun won two matches over Team Adem with a score of 30 - 22 (Men's Doubles 1) and 30 - 19 (Mixed Doubles).
Athletes and the committee hope that badminton can make them fit and celebrate the 68th Anniversary. Congratulations to the Sembodo Team for winning first place in the 68th FEB UGM Anniversary Badminton Tournament!
