The Alumni Family of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAFEGAMA) 2004, organized the 20-Year Reunion of FEB UGM Class of 2004 Alumni. This reunion event, held at the FEB UGM Campus on Saturday (July 6, 2023), is one of the programs of KAFEGAMA Class of 2004 aimed at strengthening the bonds of fellowship and relationships among its members and enhancing contributions to its members and the campus.
The Chairman of KAFEGAMA Class of 2004, Desti Sarah Sagita, S.E., M.Sc., stated that this reunion event adopted the theme "A Journey of Two Decades: Reconnecting, Reflecting, Renewing." Celebrating friendships that have been established for over two decades and reunited after 20 years, the event carried a mission to reconnect all FEB UGM alumni from the three study programs of the 2004 class.
“This reunion is the first meeting that brings together one cohort from three study programs after graduating in 2004. About 50 alumni attended. The main goal of this reunion is to reconnect and strengthen the fellowship with old friends,” explained the alumna of the FEB UGM Economics Study Program.
This reunion event not only served as a nostalgic gathering for the FEB UGM Class of 2004 alumni. Through this event, discussions were held to discuss work programs to support campus activities, including plans to provide assistance to support student studies and guest lectures.
“Through this reunion, we strengthen our friendships while enhancing networking to increase KAFEGAMA 2004's contributions to its members and support campus programs,” she explained.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean of FEB UGM for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., warmly welcomed the presence of FEB UGM Class of 2004 alumni on the FEB UGM Campus. This cohort reunion is a precious moment as it reunites the Class of 2004 alumni who have not set foot on the beloved FEB UGM campus for almost 20 years.
“Many have returned to campus after 20 years, and it is certainly very delightful to be reunited through this reunion event,” he said.
In front of the FEB UGM Class of 2004 alumni, Gilang outlined several recent achievements of FEB UGM. One of them is the success of FEB UGM in maintaining its accreditation for the third time from the prestigious international accreditation body, AACSB. This achievement complements the “Unggul'' accreditation obtained from LAMEMBA for 12 study programs at FEB UGM. He also conveyed various developments in both physical and non-physical facilities at FEB UGM in recent years, such as the addition of a canteen, a student-run café as an entrepreneurial learning platform, co-working spaces, alumni rooms, integrated offices, mental health services for students, Career and Student Development Unit (CSDU), and more.
In his closing remarks, Gumilang hoped that this reunion event would not only serve as a platform to reunite its alumni. However, this event can also strengthen the bonds of fellowship among its alumni and between the alumni and the campus. Not stopping there, he invited alumni to support campus programs, including alumni mentorship and presenting internship or career opportunities in alumni companies or institutions.
At the end of the reunion event, FEB UGM Class of 2004 alumni were invited to reminisce about their study journey at FEB UGM through a campus tour. In this activity, the alumni walked around every corner of the campus and witnessed their struggles in pursuing their dreams at the beloved FEB UGM.
