FEB UGM Open Campus Enthusiastically Attended by Hundreds of Students from Yogyakarta and Central Java

A total of 285 high school and vocational students from 65 schools in 15 regions in Yogyakarta and Central Java enthusiastically participated in the Open Campus event organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM). The Open Campus was held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the FEB UGM campus in Yogyakarta.
FEB UGM hosted the Open Campus to introduce the faculty to high school students further. This event also served to spread information about new ways of enrolling students. The Open Campus is part of the celebration of the 69th anniversary of the FEB UGM.
The Open Campus event was opened by FEB UGM's 69th Anniversary Celebration Chairperson, Muhammad Ryan Sanjaya, S.E., M.Int.Dev.Ec., Ph.D. Ryan warmly welcomed the hundreds of students from various Yogyakarta and Central Java regions. He introduced FEB UGM during the event and highlighted several achievements in the past year.
"Although not the oldest, FEB UGM has achieved various achievements, including securing AACSB International Accreditation. In addition, the faculty has competent lecturers and several international programs," he said on Saturday (9/21) on the 8th floor of the Learning Building, FEB UGM.
During the Open Campus, participants were able to attend three sharing sessions. The first session provided an overview of the three admission programs at UGM, including FEB, namely SNBP, SNBT, and the Independent Program. The second session focused on accreditation and the various facilities available at FEB UGM.
Participants received more detailed information about the three programs offered at FEB UGM in the third session: Accounting, Management, and Economics. Representatives from each department included Rijadh Djatu Winardi, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., CFE from the Department of Accounting, Sekar Utami Setiastuti, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. from the Department of Economics, and Risa Virgosita, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D. from the Department of Management. Each representative explained the curriculum and career prospects of their respective departments.
The presence of several outstanding FEB UGM students made the Open Campus even more engaging. During the event, I Gusti Ayu Maresta Amrita Puspa Pujawati (Accounting 2021), an academically outstanding student, and Nathanael Alexander Rae Alvis (Management 2023) and Felia Az Zahra (Accounting 2021), who excel in non-academic fields, shared their stories and tips on how to excel academically and participate in extracurricular activities. They also highlighted the facilities at FEB UGM that support achievement in various competitions.
In addition to the outstanding students, the Open Campus also introduced the participants to various student associations (HMJ) within FEB UGM. Present at this session were Azkal Azkiya Muhardi, President of BEM FEB 2024, Fathin Adib Suyono, President of IKAMMA 2024, Fazil Darmana Fausta, President of HIMIESPA 2024, and Kukuh Lambar Pracoyo and Annisa Luvy, representatives of IMAGAMA 2024.
The event received positive feedback from several participants, including Intan Khairina Al-Barokah from SMA Negeri 9 Yogyakarta, who said she gained valuable information from the Open Campus.
"FEB UGM's Open Campus gave me important information about the management, accounting, and business programs. I also got information about organizations from BEM FEB to student associations in each department and discovered the locations of various facilities in the FEB building, from classrooms to the cafeteria, library, and more," Intan said.
Similarly, two students from SMAN 3 Yogyakarta, Aisha Farah Adistya and Chevalier Y. H., also found the Open Campus exciting and informative.
"I gained so much interesting information from the sharing sessions with inspiring speakers. With lecturers and student representatives from organizations, I know more about the dynamics here. I'm more motivated to study hard to be a part of FEB UGM," said Aisha.
"The sharing sessions were incredibly beneficial, especially the explanations directly from the lecturers and student representatives. This event convinced me even more to join FEB UGM," added Chevalier.
In addition to the classroom sharing sessions, Open Campus participants were invited to tour the FEB UGM campus in addition to the classroom sharing sessions. During the Tour de FEB, participants were divided into groups to explore the campus facilities and experience the campus environment firsthand.
