The Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) participated in the Nitilaku Cultural Parade 2024 to celebrate UGM's 75th anniversary and 15th Lustrum on Sunday (15/12). The event allowed FEB UGM to showcase Indonesia's rich cultural heritage while fostering stronger relationships among the academic community, cultural groups, the general public, the private sector, and government institutions.
The Nitilaku Cultural Parade is an annual tradition that is held as part of UGM's anniversary celebrations. The parade is a cultural procession of UGM's academic community and alumni, starting from Siti Hinggil Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat and ending at UGM's campus in Bulaksumur. Over the years, Nitilaku has become a cultural event that highlights historical struggles and national identity.
This year's Nitilaku, themed "National Harmony: Preserving Unity and Nurturing Togetherness, FEB UGM presented a professional team and a dance team composed of FEB UGM faculty and professional staff. Dressed in traditional Indonesian attire, the FEB UGM delegation performed a contemporary dance that captivated the audience.
Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., FEB UGM's Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, expressed his delight at FEB UGM's participation in the annual event.
"FEB UGM is thrilled to have participated in Nitilaku UGM 2024. The event featured our mascots, Si Fino and Foni, who were enthusiastically welcomed by the audience, especially the children. Our fruit gunungan was a highlight at the finish line, and the dance performance by 70 professional staff dressed in Bhinneka Tunggal Ika attire was a real spectacle," he said.
Bayu also emphasized that participating in the Nitilaku Cultural Parade reflected UGM's 75-year journey and FEB UGM's integral role.
"Our performance, which combines various regional dances with energetic choreography accompanied by a medley of traditional songs, illustrates Indonesia as a microcosm of diversity," said Dian Asmara Djati, FEB UGM's Nitilaku Cultural Parade team coordinator.
Dian added that this year's Nitilaku strengthens the participants' sense of belonging and appreciation for UGM. The involvement of FEB UGM's new professional staff aims to nurture their UGM spirit from the very beginning.
"This activity is designed not only to broaden horizons but also to build teamwork and a deeper awareness of UGM's diversity," she explained.
FEB UGM's participation in Nitilaku 2024 underscores the faculty's commitment to preserving cultural heritage while integrating modern values. It also reflects a commitment to embracing Indonesia's diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions.
