FEB UGM and Asia School of Business Discuss Potential Academic and Research Collaboration

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) welcomed a visit from the Asia School of Business (ASB), Malaysia. The visit, which took place on January 21, 2025, aimed to discuss various potential academic and research collaborations between the two institutions.

The ASB delegation included Dr. Melati Nungsari (Associate Professor of Economics, Faculty Director of the ASEAN Research Center, Associate Dean for Research, and Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan School of Management), Fatimah Zahra Ros’azam (Research Associate, ASEAN Research Center), and Shre Maha Manohar (Research & Communications Executive).

Melati said that ASB continues to improve the quality of its education and research. Currently, ASB offers an MBA program and is in the process of developing a Ph.D. program. ASB is also in the process of applying for AACSB accreditation.

ASB collaborates with various partners to advance education and research. Melati expressed ASB’s interest in collaborating with FEB UGM, particularly in research initiatives.

FEB UGM’s Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Partnership, and Alumni, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., warmly welcomed ASB’s proposal for collaboration. He highlighted several potential areas of cooperation, including finance, banking, pricing platforms, supply chain, organizational behavior (OB), microeconomics, circular economy, supply chain management, and artificial intelligence (AI) in human interfaces.

During the meeting, Gumilang also introduced FEB UGM’s flagship programs, including FEB Research Day, which serves as a platform to disseminate research findings of faculty members and students, and Global Summer Week, a short-term learning program held at FEB UGM during the summer and open to students from around the world. He expressed his hope that ASB could participate in these flagship programs.
