FEB UGM and Aberdeen Business School Robert Gordon University Explore Educational and Research Collaboration

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), and Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, are exploring a strategic collaboration. The proposed cooperation includes student exchange programs, double degree programs, joint research, and supervision.

This initiative was discussed during the visit of Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Kertanegara Meeting Room, FEB UGM. Dr. Simon Fraser, Director of International Partnerships, represented the delegation of Aberdeen Business School. Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni of FEB UGM, and Arizona Mustikarini, Ph.D., Head of the Global Relations and Mobility Unit (GREAT) at FEB UGM, joined him.

FEB UGM and Aberdeen Business School have a strong relationship through membership in the Network of International Business and Economic Schools (NIBES). This global network has provided a solid foundation for both institutions to strengthen academic collaboration. Through this collaboration, both parties aim to enhance their existing partnership further.

During the meeting, Vice Dean Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo highlighted that FEB UGM’s curriculum supports double degree programs through the International Undergraduate Program (IUP). FEB UGM also offers student exchange programs that allow its students to experience studying at international partner universities. Similarly, international students can gain learning experiences at FEB UGM through these exchange programs.

Dr. Simon Fraser stated that Robert Gordon University also offers international programs for undergraduate students, including student mobility and exchange programs. He expressed openness to collaborate on a double degree program and suggested a faculty exchange initiative to enhance research and teaching experiences.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Department of Accounting at FEB UGM to explore opportunities for cooperation in joint research and supervision. Both parties discussed strengthening cooperation in accounting, including the potential for further research collaborations and faculty mobility programs as part of academic development.

Five coordinators from FEB UGM’s Accounting Laboratory research areas attended the meeting between Dr. Simon Fraser and the Department of Accounting: Arika Artiningsih, S.E., M.Acc., M.Com., M.Res., Ph.D., Fitri Amalia, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Haryono, Drs., M.Com., Ak., CA., Dr. Puspita Ghany Anggraini, S.E., and Aviandi Okta Maulana, S.E., M.Acc., Ak., C.A., Ph.D..

During the discussion, each representative presented their research focus, including developing the SIDEK ERP application for MSMEs, digitalizing accounting education, and research in taxation and the public sector.

Dr. Simon Fraser appreciated the innovations the Department of Accounting presented and emphasized their real-world impact, especially in supporting MSMEs in business management. In addition, these innovations contribute to the advancement of accounting education and provide policy recommendations to the government.
