Almayla Taorayudha

Almayla Taorayudha, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), majoring in Management (Class of 2024), won 1st place in the National Article Competition LITERNUSIA 2025 organized by UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The competition was held online in May 2025 and attracted participants from various regions across Indonesia.

The competition carried the theme “Strengthening Literacy, Numeracy, and the Arts as the Foundation of Education for the Golden Generation in the Digital Era.” It began with a preliminary selection of submitted essays. From this stage, the three best essays were chosen to advance to the final round, presenting their ideas before a panel of judges.

Almayla addressed a pressing issue concerning literacy challenges amidst the rapid wave of digitalization. Despite their frequent use of technology, she highlighted the low levels of digital literacy, numeracy, and artistic expression among Indonesian youth. This problem is exacerbated by unequal access to digital tools and limited guidance, which hampers the digital readiness of many young people in the country.

To address this, Almayla proposed an innovative solution: empowering youth digital agents, students trained to become ambassadors of digital literacy within their communities. Through a peer-to-peer learning approach, these youth agents are expected to deliver educational messages more effectively, promote participatory literacy awareness, and strengthen the foundation toward realizing the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

Behind her success, Almayla admitted to balancing her time between competition preparation and her academic and organizational responsibilities. Nevertheless, she managed to deliver her best performance.

“I’m proud of this achievement, but I realize this is just the beginning of a much longer journey. I hope this accomplishment serves as a stepping stone for further growth and greater contributions in the future,” Almayla said.
