The Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM) has affirmed its commitment to ensuring that no regular undergraduate (S1) students drop out of college due to financial constraints. FEB UGM confirmed this commitment following the failure to meet the 2025 Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (KIP-K) quota for some applicants due to a reduction in quotas by the government.
The Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FEB UGM, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., said that out of a total of 60 KIP-K applicants for the 2025 intake, 49 students were declared eligible to receive KIP-K scholarships. Meanwhile, 11 students have not yet received quotas from the government.
“FEB UGM is strongly committed to ensuring that no regular undergraduate students drop out of college due to financial reasons. Even though these 11 students have not received KIP-K quotas, we will ensure that their education is not interrupted,” explained Bayu on Tuesday (30/12/2025).
FEB UGM will waive the Single Tuition Fee (UKT) for 11 students in the 2025/2026 Academic Year, implementing a UKT Zero policy to ease students’ financial burdens.
“These eleven students will be exempted from paying UKT during semesters one and two,” he said.
Beyond the tuition waiver, FEB UGM also provides support for living expenses through the KAFEGAMA scholarship program. The assistance aims to cover students’ basic needs throughout their studies, particularly for those who do not receive support from the KIP-K scheme.
Under this program, each recipient will receive IDR 1,100,000 per month during the 2025/2026 Academic Year.
“Hopefully, when entering the new semester, students can attend lectures calmly and comfortably,” he hoped.
The eleven affected students come from three study programs: three students from the Accounting Undergraduate Program, two students from the Management Undergraduate Program, and six students from the Economics Undergraduate Program. One of the students, Cindy Kumalasari, stated that she has not yet received official information regarding the KIP-K quota, but feels relieved by the certainty of support from the faculty.
The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) reaffirmed its commitment to support 11 students affected by the reduction in the KIP-K scholarship quota, as confirmed by Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Alumni. He explained that KAFEGAMA continuously organizes various programs and fundraising initiatives, a portion of which is allocated to the development of student scholarships.
“Over the past few years, KAFEGAMA has allocated its funds to provide scholarships. At present, KAFEGAMA continues to use these funds to support students, ensuring they can pursue their studies without barriers,” he said.
He also hopes that with the support provided by KAFEGAMA, students will be able to complete their studies successfully. After becoming alums, they are expected to contribute to the faculty and assist younger students in the future.
