The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), through its Human Resources (HR) Office, organized two competency development programs for professional staff in June and July 2026. The programs were designed to equip participants with practical skills that can support personal development and create entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly for administrative staff approaching retirement.
The first program, a Screen Printing Training, was held on Thursday (June 25) at Stronger Screen Printing & Clothing Vendor in Demangan, Maguwoharjo, Depok, Sleman, and was attended by 17 participants. During the training, participants learned the fundamentals of screen-printing, including an introduction to the required tools and materials, followed by hands-on practice printing designs onto T-shirts. Through this practical experience, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the screen-printing production process and its potential as a creative business opportunity.
The second program, Mushroom Cultivation Training, took place on Thursday (July 9) at The Jamur Jogja in Sokamartani Village, Merdikorejo, Tempel, Sleman, with 26 participants. The training was specifically designed to provide knowledge and practical skills for administrative staff preparing for retirement. Participants were introduced to the entire mushroom cultivation process, including preparing growing media, cultivation techniques, maintenance, harvesting, and business management.
In addition to classroom sessions, participants had the opportunity to engage in hands-on practice and discuss with the instructors the potential to develop an independent mushroom cultivation business.

Head of Administration at FEB UGM, Nur Bakti Susilo, S.E., Ak., CA., ASEAN CPA., explained that the screen-printing and mushroom cultivation training reflects FEB UGM’s commitment to sustainable human resource development. He emphasized that human resource management at FEB UGM extends beyond employees’ active years of service, encompassing preparation before retirement as well as support after retirement.
He also noted that FEB UGM has established a retired professional staff association (Paguyuban Purna Tugas Staf Profesional FEB) to maintain engagement and foster continued collaboration among retired staff members.
Through these training programs, FEB UGM hopes that its professional staff will continue to develop practical skills that can serve as valuable assets in their retirement years. The initiative also demonstrates the faculty’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of its human resources through practical and sustainable lifelong learning.
