The competition, organized by the Investment Study Group of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY), was held on November 23, 2024. It involved 28 teams from universities across Indonesia.

Bintang explained that the competition tested the team’s equity research analysis skills in three stages. In the first stage, the preliminary round, participants were required to submit a scientific paper with a buy/hold/sell recommendation for specific stocks, supported by a thorough analysis of the company’s sustainability, economic conditions, industry trends, financial performance, and valuation. In the second stage, the study case round, participants tackled an investment case study involving a telecommunications company. Finally, in the final round, the finalists presented their written work from the previous stages to the judges, who determined the winners.

Bintang emphasized that it took a lot of work to achieve this success. In the initial selection phase, their paper was ranked 11th out of 17 submissions that advanced to the case study round. They worked hard to improve their position during the case study phase, climbing to 7th place and securing a spot in the final round.

“During the presentation, we discovered errors in the information submitted in our paper, so we had to conduct additional research. We worked hard to achieve optimal results,” Bintang explained.

Despite the challenges, Bintang emphasized that the experience provided many valuable lessons. “The pressure we faced paid off when we made it to the finals for the first time. It’s a significant achievement for us, although there is still room for improvement,” added Dhani.
