The Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) welcomed another visit from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow, on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Kertanegara Meeting Room. This meeting aimed to strengthen the ongoing collaboration between the two institutions.
Previously, both parties had agreed to initiate a double degree program at the master’s level in December 2024. Through this visit, FEB UGM and the Adam Smith Business School discussed further opportunities for undergraduate double degree programs, particularly under the 2+2 and 3+1 schemes. In addition, the meeting explored potential collaboration in research and other academic areas.
Dr. Xiang Li, representing the Adam Smith Business School, stated that the University of Glasgow offers joint degree programs under the 2+2 scheme. Under this scheme, students would complete the first two years of study at UGM and the final two years at the University of Glasgow.
‘We are open to reviewing the third- and fourth-year curricula to explore further alignment,’ she said, emphasizing the school’s readiness to collaborate more broadly with FEB UGM.
Meanwhile, FEB UGM’s Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Collaboration, and Alumni, Gumilang Aryo Sahadewo, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., explained that FEB UGM welcomes research collaboration opportunities for faculty members. Such collaborative research would primarily focus on sustainable development, inequality, public policy, and technology.
“We have been working together over the past few years, especially in designing the double degree structure for the master’s program. We are very pleased that last year we successfully signed the partnership agreement, which is now officially in effect,” Gumilang said.
He expressed hope that the collaboration would continue to expand into other fields, bringing mutual benefits and contributing to the advancement of higher education in economics and business and broader societal development.
