Fakultas Ekonomika dan Bisnis Universitas Gadjah Mada Gelar Leadership Festival, Bekali Siswa SMA Soal Perkuliahan

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), through its Partnership, Admissions and Alumni Unit, organized a socialization event for high school students in Yogyakarta entitled Leadership Festival on Thursday (20/3/2025). Forty-three participants attended the event, including 12th-grade student representatives, parents, and teachers from eight high schools in the Yogyakarta region.

FEB UGM’s Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., explained that the Leadership Festival aimed to strengthen FEB UGM’s connection with the community.

“Through this event, we hope to provide 12th-grade students, teachers, and parents with new insights and information about university life,” he explained on Thursday (3/20) at FEB UGM.

Participants were introduced to the programs, facilities, benefits, and academic life at FEB UGM during the event. The Partnership, Admissions, and Alumni Coordinator, Dian Asmara Djati, S.S., gave a presentation on the admissions process for new students at FEB UGM. She explained several admission routes available to prospective students, including national selection through Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi (SNBP) and Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Tes (SNBT), independent selection through Ujian Masuk (UM) UGM, and the international route through the International Undergraduate Program (IUP).

“The competition is quite tough, with around 16,000 applicants yearly, while only 3%—or 500 students—are admitted. For the IUP program, 175 places are available across three programs,” she explained.

Following this, students participated in a university lecture simulation led by RR. Tur Nastiti, M.Si., Ph.D., a lecturer from the Department of Management at FEB UGM who teaches Leadership Communication. This course teaches effective communication, conflict management, and understanding diversity within a team.

In this session, students were encouraged to take on leadership roles for themselves and within a team while understanding the importance of communication. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to practice communication skills through group discussions and case study problem-solving. The activity aimed to provide real-life experience in leadership communication dynamics.
