Starting from the challenges faced by out-of-town students living in boarding houses, who often struggle to find help with household needs such as repairs or room cleaning, students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), devised the concept of a digital platform called Bantoo. This platform aims to connect users with service providers efficiently and effectively.
“When facing minor damages or issues in their rooms, boarding house residents often rely on caretakers or acquaintances of the boarding house owners, whose availability and technical skills are limited. Moreover, finding informal services carries the risk of non-transparent or overpriced fees, especially for students living far from home,” said Tabina Maritza Wisnu, CEO of Bantoo.
Tabina Maritza Wisnu (Management 2022), along with Sarah Azizah (Accounting 2023) and Kreskaia Diandrayesha (Economics 2023), introduced Bantoo, a micro-task platform concept that offers various services from minor repairs, cleaning, furniture assembly, and painting to item delivery—all in one application. On the other hand, the platform also creates opportunities for local workers and MSMEs to access a more modern market.
“We aim to build a platform that not only makes users’ lives easier but also empowers local workers by giving them fairer and more modern market access,” Tabina added.
This business idea led the Bantoo team to win third place in the Young Entrepreneur Show! (YES!) 2025 Pre-Incubation Program organized by the Management Student Association (IKAMMA) of FEB UGM.
Tabina admitted that she and her team did not expect to make it to the top three of FEB UGM’s pre-incubation program, especially since they faced challenges coordinating their schedules due to being from different departments and year levels.
“This was our first business incubation competition, so we were nervous yet excited. We genuinely didn’t expect to win, considering the other groups had equally innovative and compelling business ideas,” Tabina shared.
Although Bantoo is still in the conceptual stage and has not yet entered the prototyping phase, the team has already mapped out a clear picture of user needs, platform workflow, and the business strategy they aim to implement. Moving forward, they plan to conduct research and surveys with potential users and service providers before developing the application.
