Master of Ceremony training for academic staffs and students held at Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada is presenting a professional MC Okki Putriani, S.T., M.T. is aimed to building the public speaking skill to this faculty member. This training is held into 5 sessions on 25 April-2 Mei 2019.
The first session as well as the introduction of MC, Okki motivates the audiences by giving the tricks to be a confident professional MC. “it needs your willing, determination and the most important point is being brave. Take the possibilities, because the second chance will not come often”, Okki said. A professional and reliable MC is required to be the intelligent and self-confident besides good vocal of speaking. “We (a MC) must have curiosity in building the understanding comprehensively about an event, therefore, you could deliver a good message towards your speech, using unique or style of speech so the audience will notice that it’s your standard”, she added. Furthermore, this PhD Candidate of Faculty of Engineering Universitas Gadjah Mada also stated that other successful key as best MC is able to encourage and inspire.
On the second to rest sessions, Okki invites the participants to directly practice the public speaking as solo MC or duo MC and gives them feedback. Furthermore, she explains on the duo MC must have ping and pong, connection, of the two MCs to avoid the awkward moment. “The duo MC can’t be egotistic, the two must balance. Build the interaction, bring the ping and pong on”, she said. Besides Okki, this event is also inviting Risa Karmida, a news anchor and journalist of Metro TV, two other professional MCs; Ayu Assyamsi and Marcella Tania, and Valentina Dita (Finalis Putri Indonesia DIY 2017).
Risa Karmida shares her tips to be professional MC by becoming attractive, communicative, and interactive MC to audiences. Meanwhile, by Ayu Assyamsi about MC’s vocal tips need to be formed by the face muscle exercises, tongue movements, and listening to the result of speaker own recording vocal regularly. “ a way to improve the public speaker skill is by understanding our strength and vocal cord of our own through vocal recording”, Ayu said.
The next part is about sitting, standing, and walking etiquette explained by Valentina Dita. The Indonesian Pigeon of 2017 finalist shares the personal image is developed by body gesture regarding to the situation and condition. In addition, Marcella Tania adds the knowledge about how to analyze the situation and to maintain the unexpected condition while in public speaking.
Besides that Wardah Cosmetic and Karita Fashion are also invited to take part of the beauty class and fashion session for MC’s appearance skill accomplished. This event is closed by Okki delivering the certificate to the training all participants and did the photo session. “Hopefully this event brings the benefit to all Faculty of Economics and Business member” Okki said.
