FEB UGM Successfully Holds GAMAICEB and GAMAICI 2020

In commemoration of the 65th Anniversary (Lustrum XIII), the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held two annual international conference, namely The 8th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Economics and Business (GAMAICEB) and The 5th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Islamic (GAMAICI). The event was held online last Saturday (12/9).
GAMAICEB is an annual international conference that aims to provide a forum for participants to convey ideas and research results related to the latest economic and business issues. Meanwhile, GAMAICI is an international conference on Islam which is divided into 3 conferences, namely GAMAICIED (Economics and Development), GAMAICIAF (Accounting and Finance), and GAMAICIBR (Business Research). This year's GAMAICI carries the big theme "Pandemic, Humanitarianism and Business Resilience: Some Notes from an Islamic Economics Perspective".
The conference includes two main agendas, namely Plenary Session and Parallel Session. The plenary session is a plenary session attended by students, lecturers, researchers, practitioners, and the general public. This session invited 6 speakers from various universities. Law Siong Hook, Ph.D. (Universiti Putra Malaysia) delivered material on the topic Macroeconomics During the Pandemic in Emerging Countries. Indonesia. Dr. Law explained the impact of Covid-19 on the economies of developing countries which must be accompanied by policies to protect the most vulnerable in the short term and policies to prepare for economic recovery in the new normal era in the medium term. Elan Satriawan, Ph.D. (Gadjah Mada University) presented the topic Socio-Economic Impacts of Marginalized Group in the Pandemic: An Islamic Perspective. Dr. Elan said that in the face of Covid-19 the country must allocate a lot of resources to support economic recovery, especially in protecting the social welfare of the marginalized.
Prof. Dr. Ahasanul Haque (International Islamic University Malaysia) discussed topics related to Halal Supply Chain During Pandemic. Prof. Ahas said that the halal supply chain encountered various risks and challenges due to Covid-19 so that the main focus had to be given to medical and food items. Luluk Lusiantoro, Ph.D. (Gadjah Mada University) delivered his meter with the topic of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Dr. Luluk said that HLSCM issues can be analyzed using the SCRES Framework to formulate the right proactive, concurrent, and reactive strategy.
Dr. Sofia Yasmin (University of Manchaster) presented the topic The Accountability Practice of Islamic Humanitarian in the UK: Research Opportunity. Dr. Sofia conveyed that Muslim NGOs are very sensitive organizations so that proactive steps are needed to mitigate or limit the effects of their exposure. Miranti Kartika Dewi, Ph.D. (University of Indonesia) discussed the topic The Accountability of NGO Practice in Indonesia. Dr. Miranti said that Beneficiary Accountability (BA) has several different attributes so that NGOs must be collaborative and accountable.
Furthermore, conference participants were divided into ten different rooms to present their research results in parallel sessions. A total of 52 papers were presented in the parallel session. The ten rooms cover accounting, economics, human resources management, marketing, finance and investment, strategic marketing, accounting and economics, Islamic finance and investment, halal issues in business and economics development, and spirituality, economics behavior, and economics development. The session ended with the announcement of the 2020 GAMAICEB and GAMAICI Best Papers.
