The Management Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM) is again involved in a capacity building consortium in Higher Education within the framework of Erasmus+ The Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE). After previously contributing to the ASEAN Green Entrepreneurship and Leadership (ANGEL) activities, now the Management Department of FEB UGM has the opportunity to join the Master in Sustainability Development and Management (MASUDEM) consortium. This consortium aims to increase the capacity of the Master of Management Program, especially in responding to sustainability and green economy issues. The three-year project kick-off will take place from 15 to 17 February 2023 at the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia and Mendel University, Brno, Czech Republic. The Management Department delegation was led by Prof. Nurul Indarti, Sivilokonom., Cand.Merc., Ph.D. and followed by Boyke Rudy Purnomo, S.E., M.M., PhD., CFP. and Rocky Adiguna, SE., M.Sc., Ph.D.
The MASUDEM project aims to develop graduate program curricula and develop the capacity of teaching staff regarding sustainable development issues. More than that, this activity also promotes an internationalization strategy through sustainable cooperation between consortium members. There are six universities in ASEAN involved in the consortium, three from Indonesia, namely Gadjah Mada University, Indonesian Islamic University, and Trisakti University, as well as three universities from Thailand, namely International College of NIDA, Srinakharinwirot University, and Naresuan University. Meanwhile the European partners involved included the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia, Mendel University Brno Czech Republic, Pablo de Olavide University Seville, Spain, and Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary.
This activity is very relevant to FEB UGM's mission of creating future leaders in economics and business who are concerned with sustainable development issues. This initiative is also in line with the global spirit of mainstreaming sustainable development declared by the United Nations (UN). In this consortium, UGM will become the coordinator for conducting mapping studies regarding the current status of curriculum implementation with the theme of sustainable development and the various needs of both resources and capacities needed by each member of the consortium to develop teaching at the postgraduate level on the theme of sustainable development and management.
