The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) has several disability-friendly facilities. This facility is a big step for FEB UGM to create a more inclusive and friendly environment for all academics and professional staff. Disabled-friendly facilities at FEB UGM include a wheelchair ramp, disabled-friendly bathroom and passenger lift. Ram for wheelchairs provides easier access for academics with disabilities to enter buildings and rooms. Apart from that, with this RAM, disabled academics can feel more independent and less dependent on other people’s help in mobility. Furthermore, disabled-friendly bathrooms are specially designed to have accessibility features such as handrails, ample space for wheelchair manoeuvring, and non-slip surfaces. This feature makes it easier for academics with disabilities to use this facility more safely and comfortably. Pin terms of mobility between floors, passenger lifts make it easier for them to access different floors in faculty buildings, from Pertamina Tower, the Faculty Building, to the Learning Center Building. In total, there are more than 33 disabled-friendly facilities that support the safety and comfort of people with disabilities at FEB UGM.

Wuri Handayani, S.E., Ak., M.Si., M.A., Ph.D., lecturer at the Accounting Department, FEB UGM, said, “FEB UGM really makes things very easy for us people with disabilities, there is a lot of RAM that I can use for mobility inside campus. Moreover, it makes it easier for me to move around teaching students. There is no difference between academics who are disabled and those who are not. FEB UGM upholds equality and prosperity.” Of course, these facilities support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), namely Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 10 (Reduction of Inequalities), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements), and Goal 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

In line with FEB UGM’s new mission, “We nurture future-ready leaders in economics to foster sustainability”, we believe that every small step we take in creating a more inclusive and sustainable environment is an important contribution to achieving the larger Sustainable Development Goals. We are committed to continuing to work hard in supporting our vision and mission goals and making FEB UGM the best example of realizing the SDGs.
