A total of 72 new international students at FEB UGM participated in a campus orientation, known as Orientation Day, organized by FEB UGM on Thursday, August 8th, 2024. These 72 international students include 55 undergraduate exchange students, three dual-degree students, and 14 international Master of Business Administration (MBA) students. They come from 19 countries and represent 39 of FEB UGM's international partner universities.
Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., FEB UGM Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, warmly welcomed the 72 international students for the Fall 2024/2025 academic year. He emphasized that the presence of these international students reinforces FEB UGM's commitment and position as a globally recognized business school with more than 70 university partners worldwide.
Bayu expressed his hope that the international students will make the most of their time studying at FEB UGM. In addition to learning, they are encouraged to build friendships and networks with other students.
"We hope that students, whether participating in the exchange or dual degree programs for 1-2 semesters, will exchange ideas, build friendships, and network with Indonesian students to help build their future careers. Finally, welcome to FEB, and enjoy your time at UGM and in Yogyakarta," he said.
The Orientation Day is part of FEB UGM's campus introduction series for international students, which includes an overview of the campus culture, learning environment, and various facilities available to support their studies. During the event, all international students received important information about the three study programs, the learning process at FEB, academic administration, various facilities and services, and Indonesian culture. In addition, international students were briefed on traffic and driving regulations by the Yogyakarta Police.
One of the Orientation Day participants, Salim El Akkad from TH Köln, Germany, said he found the campus orientation organized by FEB UGM very helpful.
"I am very impressed with this campus orientation event. The program was packaged in an interesting and easy-to-understand way that gave my fellow students and me an overview of the FEB and UGM campuses," he said.
Anna Maria Schön, a student from TH Köln, Germany, shared a similar sentiment. Through the campus orientation, she gained a lot of information, including campus rules, campus culture, and even details about food and traffic regulations in Indonesia.
"I got a lot of information that was very helpful. I like the atmosphere of the FEB UGM campus; the facilities are great, and the people are friendly and helpful," she said.
In addition to the Orientation Day, international students will participate in the Cultural Immersion Day (CID) on Friday, August 9th, at Pancoh Tourism Village, Turi District, Sleman Regency. Through this CID activity, students will be introduced to Indonesian culture, especially Yogyakarta.
