Tim UGM Boys

Students from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), have once again achieved national recognition. The UGM Boys team, consisting of Immanuel Andrew Tambunan (Accounting 2024), Faaza Fadhlurrahman (Accounting 2023), and Deni Kurniawan Saputra (Property Management and Valuation SV 2023), won 1st Place in the Stock Case Competition at the Capital Market Competition (COMIC) 2025, organized by Trisakti School of Management on July 26, 2025.

A total of 67 teams from leading universities across Indonesia participated in this capital market research competition, including Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), IPB University, BINUS University, Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Petra Christian University, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ), Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY), among others.

The team advanced to the final round after passing the preliminary stage, which required submitting an equity research report on PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT). According to Andrew Tambunan, their analysis covered various dimensions, including macroeconomic outlook, industry conditions, the company’s competitive advantages, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects, Porter’s Five Forces analysis, financial performance, stock valuation, risk analysis, and technical analysis.

The team’s achievement in entering the top 10 finalists earned them a spot in the final presentation round, where they had to present live in front of a panel of three finance industry professionals: Salvian Fernando (BNI Life Insurance), Christopher Samsuki (EY Parthenon), and Dega Rapidity (Bank Syariah Indonesia). In the final round, all teams faced the challenge of conducting a new analysis of PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (TLKM) shares quickly and presenting their findings without submitting a written report.

Andrew expressed his hopes that the success of UGM Boys in this competition would inspire other students to continue developing by participating in national and international academic competitions.
