UGM Students Win Runner-Up Title at the 15th MIST International Conference at Universitas Indonesia

Students of Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Economics and Business of Universitas Gadjah Mada once again achieved national award. Students from the Orientaru Team consisting of Aditya Laksana Suwandi (Information Technology 2015), Ronald Andika Prasetyo (Management-IUP 2016), and Veronika Xaveria (Management-IUP 2016 - Double Degree University of Melbourne) won Runner-Up title in "The 15th MIST International Conference "on 24th February until 1st March 2019 which was organized by the Management Student Society (MSS) FEB Universitas Indonesia.
The 15th MIST International Conference is the biggest international marketing conference, seminar, and training in Indonesia that offers all necessary updates and insights of marketing environment in the world. This conference offers a place for passionate young marketers all around the world to exchange views and ideas about current marketing issues. Raising "Human Centric Technology: Think Forward, Embrace Uncertainty, Deliver Growth" as MIST big theme, Orientaru team successfully won the Runner-Up title by presenting a research paper of "Maximizing Seamless Customer Experience on GO-JEK through Digital Personalization"
The first stage was the selection of research papers. 15 finalist teams who made it through the selection stage were invited to attend the MIST conference in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 15 finalist teams came from leading universities within the country such as Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, dan Universitas Udayana and foreign universities such as Victoria University of Wellington and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. The delegation of the UGM finalist teams consisted of ‘Orientaru’ and ‘Sembagi Arutala’ consisting of Samuel Silitonga (Accounting 2015), Rakyan Widhowati Tanjung (Accounting 2015), and Rocky S.P. Silalahi (Management 2016).
On the first day, delegates were invited to attend Technical Meeting, Informal Session, and Internal Training by Anthony Reza as GetCraft's Co-Founder and CEO which was held at JSC Hive Kebayoran. Here, the delegates have the opportunity to get to know each other. The next day was the presentation day where each team was required to present their research papers related to the implementation of marketing technology in a company to improve their customer satisfaction. The presentation session was held at Greenhouse Coworking and Office Space Jakarta.
The next series of event was the seminar held at the Soeria Atmadja Auditorium, FEB UI which consisted of 4 sessions. The 1st session speakers who discussed 'A New World of Speed and Agility' consisted of Ari Askhara (CEO of Garuda Indonesia), Danny F. Sondakh (Formal Regional Sales Director of SAP, Success Factors and Independent, HR Advisor), and Gervasius Samosir (Partner at Solidiance). 2nd Session regarding "Customer Experience Marks the Spot: Dealing with Unbounded Opportunity" hosted by Adam Haluska as Head of Marketing at Greenhouse Coworking & Office Space. 3rd Session discussed the topic 'Human Disruption and Artificial Intelligence' where Ashraf Sinclair (Venture Partner at 500Startups) and Rudiantara (Minister of Communication and Information of Republic of Indonesia) were the speakers. And in 4th session related to 'Think Like a Digital Leader on C-Level Perspective', the participants had the opportunity to gain insight from Agus Nurudin (Managing Director of Nielsen Indonesia) and Kartika Octaviana (CoHive Coworking's Head of Corporate Communication)
The first day conference was held at Sampoerna Strategic Square where the panelists acted as mentors who guided the delegates in completing business case given by Solidiance. The three best teams had the opportunity to present their case solutions in front of the panelists. While the second day conference was held at Indonesian Management Development Institute (IPMI) where each delegates brought each other thoughts and opinions through 3 debate sessions related to 'AIDA Model' in marketing. The event continued with dinner and networking sessions on Social Night in Vin+ Kemang.
The last day consisted of training by Google Analytics Singapore which discussed digital marketing and analytics. After the training, the delegates were invited to attend Gala Dinner and Awarding Night held at the Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Jakarta. In the awarding session, #JMD from the Universitas Indonesia won the Best Team title, Orientaru from Universitas Gadjah Mada won the 'Runner-Up Team' title, and Abhinaya from the Institut Teknologi Bandung won the Second Runner-Up Team title.
