Proud news once again comes from the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) students. On Saturday (18/11), Giacinta Betralda Anin Pradita (Accounting 2021), Tsaniya Nur Afifah (Accounting 2021), and Mia Audini Parhusip (Accounting 2021), members of the MAT team, successfully clinched the first prize in the national level essay competition at the 2023 Education For All (EFA) Competition, organized by Student Executive Board (BEM) - Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (FIP UNESA). The MAT team successfully passed the preliminary rounds. It was among the five teams eligible to present their essay ideas before the judging panel.
"Felt honored, the jury praised that our ideas were very good and suggested for implementation within the UGM environment," recounted Giacinta Betralda Anin, often called Anin, the team leader. The competition's theme was "The Actualization of Inclusive Education in Indonesia as the Implementation of Freedom to Learn." Specifically, the MAT team addressed the topic of inclusive education for disability groups, titled "Transformation of Inclusive Education: The Roadmap for Inclusive Education from Finland as an Inspirational Solution." By using Finland as a benchmark, the MAT team offered a strategic master plan related to the development of inclusive education for disability groups in Indonesia.
Behind this remarkable achievement, the team faced challenges such as the limitation of literature. "Data on inclusive education in Indonesia is not well-disclosed and rarely discussed in journals," Anin explained. Nevertheless, she didn't forget to message her fellow students at FEB UGM who intend to participate in similar competitions: "Seek data with high credibility so that it can be accounted for and serve as a strong basis for future essay writing."
Congratulations to the MAT team on their well-deserved achievement!
