Fifty years is a long time. Yet, for the alumni of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada class of 1976 (KAFEGAMA 76), the span of half a century seemed to disappear the moment they stepped back onto their beloved campus. Laughter, old stories, and the warmth of friendships formed in their youth once again filled the room.
The 50th reunion of KAFEGAMA 76 was officially held on Tuesday (5/5/2026) at the Alumni Corner of FEB UGM. More than 100 alumni attended the event to celebrate 50 years of enduring friendship.
Chairperson of the KAFEGAMA 76 Golden Reunion Committee, Dawam Atmosudiro, expressed his deep gratitude to fellow alumni for taking the time to reunite once again. He also appreciated the creative team, whose efforts played a key role in ensuring the event’s smooth success.
In his remarks, KAFEGAMA 76 Coordinator Adji Firmantoro shared how meaningful the bond among the class members has remained over the past five decades. He emphasized that the reunion came about purely through the spirit of cooperation among the alumni. Adji praised the class of 1976’s solidarity, which he believes deserves to serve as an example for others.
“We made visits to Madiun, Solo, Semarang, and Depok. Our mission was to show care and support for friends facing difficulties. Having fun together is something ordinary, but extending help to others is what makes this truly extraordinary,” he stated.
Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, S.E., M.Com., Ak., CA., attended the event in person to welcome and express appreciation to KAFEGAMA 76. He conveyed his gratitude for the various forms of support the alums have provided over the years.
He also shared updates on the campus’s ongoing developments, including FEB UGM’s efforts to create facilities that are disability-friendly and supportive of mothers and children. One of the tangible improvements currently underway is the installation of additional elevators in the older building area.
Didi further expressed his hope that the relationship between FEB UGM and KAFEGAMA 76 would continue to grow stronger in the future.
“Through this golden reunion, we hope the relationship between the faculty and KAFEGAMA 76 will become even closer. May this serve as a symbol of a lasting connection, and hopefully all of you will reunite again at the 60th and even 70th anniversaries,” he concluded.
The evening’s series of events flowed with both emotion and joy, featuring tributes to alumni who had passed away, a kaleidoscope video presentation, an unveiling ceremony, and a line dance performance marking 50 years of togetherness.
The excitement did not end that night. The following day, Wednesday (6/5/2026), the alumni continued their nostalgic journey by touring the campus, including the Main Building that holds countless memories for them. For many, this was a rare opportunity to walk through the places that had witnessed their university years.
