A total of 1,551 graduates, consisting of 1,275 graduates of the Bachelor program and 276 graduates of the Diploma Program, were successfully graduated by the Chancellor of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., on Wednesday (23/2). The graduation ceremony for the February 2022 period was held both offline and online, and was attended by representatives from each study program at Grha Sabha Pramana. After an average study period of three to four years, the graduates have finally arrived at the end of their college life and can now proudly wear a toga.
One of the graduates was Giri Trisno Putra Sambada (Management 2014), a graduate student from Undergraduate Study Program the Faculty of Economics and Business, who was chosen to be the graduate representative to deliver his remarks at the graduation ceremony. In his speech, Giri expressed his immense happiness because he was allowed to represent his fellow graduates. As a person with a visual impairment, Giri advised Universitas Gadjah Mada to continue to develop the spirit to create education for Indonesian children in an inclusive and disability-friendly educational environment.
In addition, Giri also expressed his gratitude that, thanks to his strong self-motivation, high determination, and also the openness of Universitas Gadjah Mada in providing inclusive education, he was able to stand there with other students as one of the graduates during this period. Finally, Giri expressed his deep gratitude to the alma mater, Universitas Gadjah Mada, along with all the lecturers who have truly dedicated themselves to teach all students. "Always be eager to become a meaningful attribute to the world and never forget Universitas Gadjah Mada because these are all very happy stories," Giri said to his fellow graduates.
At the end of the graduation ceremony, the UGM Chancellor also conveyed his congratulations and wishes to the graduates. He reminded that the graduates will face various challenges that are not easy when entering the world of work, but he believes that they have been equipped with sufficient education. Moreover, for the past 2 years the graduates have gone through less than ideal conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has actually shaped the graduates' personalities to become more independent and adaptable to various changes. “Success is not easy to achieve in an instant, and failure is a natural thing to happen. However, after going through all of this, we must be able to bounce back,” he said at the end.
We would like to congratulate the graduates who managed to achieve a bachelor's degree or diploma in this period. Good luck in the next stage of life and may you be able to live up to the name of your alma mater!
