From Monday (21/11) to Friday (25/11), the ASEAN Network for Green Entrepreneurship and Leadership (ANGEL) held a Training of Trainers (ToT) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur. ANGEL's mission is to provide impact and transformation for two critical stakeholders from each partner institution in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia. The first target group is internal stakeholders, namely students, academic and non-academic staff, and top management. Meanwhile, ANGEL's second target group is disadvantaged groups in society which include women and minorities, groups with poor incomes in urban and rural communities, as well as persons with disabilities (PD).
ANGEL activists come from 11 universities in ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, and are supported by institutions from Greece and Cyprus. Sources of funding from ANGEL come from the institutions involved and the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education from the European Union. The aim of implementing this program is to support university graduates and marginalized groups in obtaining better incomes through the green entrepreneurship they lead.
There are 7 countries spread across 16 institutions. In Indonesia, there are Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). Meanwhile, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. In Cambodia, there are the University of South-East Asia, the Institute of Technology Cambodia, and the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Laos itself involves Savannakhet University and Champasack University. Then, the institutions involved in Vietnam are Can Tho University and Ha Noi University of Mining and Geology, Greece involving the Research Innovation and Development Lab and Hellenic Open University, and Cyprus involving the European University Cyprus and the Center for Social Innovation. At Universitas Gadjah Mada, this activity was coordinated by the Management Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business with Prof. Nurul Indarti, Ph.D. as a Steering Committee.
ANGEL is a project that has a three-year working period starting in 2021. In the first year, ANGEL completed a green leadership development diagnostic and gap analysis activity. Meanwhile, entering the second year, the focus is on strengthening the green community development in each of the ASEAN countries involved. ANGEL held a ToT activity which was the first meeting held offline for activists. UGM itself was represented by Prof. Nurul Indarti, Ph.D., Rr Tur Nastiti, M.Sc., Ph.D., Rocky Adiguna, SE., M.Sc., Ph.D., Widya Paramita, SE, M.Sc., Ph.
