Study Program of Master of Science and Doctoral (MD) Faculty of Economics and Business UGM in collaboration with the Laboratory of Economics FEB UGM and Study Program of Master in Development Economics (MEP) FEB UGM held a seminar on the topic “Recent Developments in Experimental and Behavioral Research” on March 16, 2023. This event was held offline at BRI Auditorium Room Lt. 3, MD FEB UGM Building, and broadcast live via Zoom Meetings. The resource person for this event is Dr. Katharina Werner, Lecturer at the University of Passau, with the event moderator, Dr. Muhammad Ryan Sanjaya, Lecturer in the Department of Economics, FEB UGM.

In her presentation, Dr. Katharina explained her research entitled “Violent Conflict and Parochial Trust: Survey and Lab-in-the-Field Evidence”. Through her research, Dr. Katharina seeks to answer questions about the impact of violent conflict on trust and how interaction creates cooperation after a conflict occurs. She emphasized the importance of interpersonal trust in economic and social interactions. In her research, she used a mixed method, namely the experimental and survey methods. The targets of the laboratory experiments in this research were students of Islamic and Catholic universities in Ambon and Salatiga.

In addition, she also explained in detail the development of research methodology, namely experimental research and behavioral research. The activity was followed by a question and answer session filled with high enthusiasm from the participants. This seminar hopes that students have an interest in the world of research, especially regarding the mixed method, as well as the developments that occur in it to research various phenomena in the world of the economy. In addition, with this development, it is hoped that it can support increasingly sophisticated research and positively contribute to the world of research.
