A collective of 278 runners, united in their commitment to a noble cause, participated in a charity run organized by the Ikatan Keluarga Mahasiswa Manajemen (IKAMMA) of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) on Saturday, May 25, 2024. This charity run, part of the Management Festival (Menefest) 2024, with the theme “Empower Every Step,” was a testament to the power of unity and shared purpose in raising awareness and concern among the Indonesian community about people with disabilities.
Nathanael Alexander Rae Alvis, the chairman of the Menefest 2024 committee, stated that this year’s charity run featured three categories: a 5K men’s charity run, a 5K women’s charity run, and a 10K men’s charity run. The route for the charity run was around the UGM campus. This charity run encouraged participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle by exercising, exploring the UGM campus, and fostering social responsibility through donations to others. “This charity run combines the joy of running with the spirit of social concern. By participating in this activity, runners can contribute to creating a better future for those in need,” he explained.
Nathanael mentioned that the proceeds from the charity run, a testament to the runners’ dedication and generosity, were donated to SLB B Karnnamanohara in Condong Catur, Depok, Sleman, as well as to the needy communities around the UGM campus. He expressed his hope that these donations, a result of the runners’ hard work and commitment, would have a significant impact on the lives of children in special schools for the deaf and those in need in the community. “The proceeds from this charity run, a symbol of our collective effort, have been donated to our deaf friends at SLB B Karnnamanohara, and some will be given to the needy communities around the campus,” he added.
In addition to the charity run, Menefest 2024 featured a music show and a Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) competition. These various activities were held to commemorate the anniversary of the Management Faculty of UGM on May 1st.
