The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) has lost one of its best lecturers. He is Prof. Dr. Nopirin, M.A. Prof. Nopirin died on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 10.15 WIB at the Panti Rapih Hospital, Yogyakarta at the age of 76. He left his wife and three child.
He began his academic career at FEB UGM in 1969. In 1971, he earned an M.A from the University of the Philippines, Quezon. Furthermore, in 1986, Prof. Nopirin got Ph.D from Washington State University, USA.
In 1997, Prof. Nopirin became Dean of the Faculty of Economics for two periods, in 1994-1997 and 1997-2000. Previously, Nopirin was the Head of IESP Department of FE UGM in 1990-1991, and the Vice Dean I of the UGM FE in 1988-1991. Prof. Nopirin is also active in various industrial partners including Bank BPD DIY, and so on. Until his death, the deceased remained active as a lecturer at FEB UGM.
Prof. Nopirin retired as a lecturer at FEB UGM in November 2007, and subsequently became a non-permanent lecturer at FEB UGM for Undergraduate Study Programs, Masters in Development Economics, and Masters in Management. Prof. Nopirin is an enthusiastic lecturer figure and always provides motivation for her juniors. During his health, after teaching and mentoring students, he always greeted his juniors and education staff at FEB UGM.
“We all lose the figure of a humorous teacher but teach us many things”, said the Dean of FEB UGM, Eko Suwardi, Ph.D.
Now Prof. Nopirin is gone. Starting with the last tribute ceremony by the UGM extended family at the UGM Hall, the deceased was buried on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the UGM Cemetery Sawitsari, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta.
