Reducing Plastic Waste, FEB UGM Distributes 586 Lunch Boxes to New Students

The Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM), distributed 586 lunch boxes to new undergraduate students of the Class of 2025. This initiative is part of FEB UGM’s ongoing efforts to support environmentally friendly practices and promote a sustainable campus.

The Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Dr. Didi Achjari, M.Com, carried out the symbolic handover of lunch boxes., C.A., to two new students during the Student Socialization and Initiation Program of FEB (SIMFONI) held at Plaza FEB UGM on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).

Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Bayu Sutikno, S.E., M.S.M., Ph.D., explained that the distribution of lunch boxes is part of FEB UGM’s efforts to foster future leaders in economics and business who are aware of sustainability issues. Additionally, this initiative aims to create an inclusive and environmentally conscious campus.

“This is a small step, among many others, in building an inclusive and eco-friendly campus ecosystem,” he stated.

Bayu further expressed hope that new students would become agents of change in promoting healthy and environmentally responsible behavior on campus.

“As the youngest members of the FEB UGM family, we hope new students can be agents of change by practicing healthy behaviors on campus,” he added.

Rangga Febriansyah Saragih, a new student from the Management Program, shared his enthusiasm for receiving a lunch box. He viewed the initiative as a positive move toward environmental sustainability.

“I’m thrilled to receive this lunch box from FEB. It’s a great step to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Alya Aziza, a new student from the Accounting Program, expressed her admiration for FEB UGM’s proactive efforts in encouraging students to adopt environmentally friendly habits.

“I’m truly impressed by FEB UGM’s commitment to reducing plastic waste on campus. As a student, I’ll support this initiative,” she said.
