The Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM), held a retirement preparation training programme for 24 professional staff members retiring between 2025 and 2027. This activity occurred at the UGM Centre for Innovation and Agro Technology (PIAT) on Wednesday (27/8), with training focused on sheep farming and food and beverage processing based on local potential.
The Head of the FEB UGM Administration Office, Nur Bakti Susilo, said that training professional staff who will enter retirement is a form of support from the faculty to staff who have contributed for a long time. Through this training programme, it is hoped that professional staff about to retire will have practical skills to utilise their retirement time productively and sustainably.
“Through this programme, it is hoped that professional staff will be equipped with the skills to face retirement with business skills based on local potential,” he explained on Wednesday (27/8).
In this training, which is in collaboration with PIAT UGM, staff gain an understanding of small-scale business development, product cultivation and processing techniques, and marketing strategies. Participants learn theory and have the opportunity to practice directly so they can more easily apply the skills they have acquired.
Furthermore, Nur Bakti added that FEB UGM is committed to ensuring that all academic community members, including professional staff, receive the best support in every phase of their careers. This aligns with FEB’s efforts to support the achievement of the organisation’s mission and vision.
“We want to ensure that the transition to retirement runs smoothly, is filled with gratitude, and continues to be meaningful,” he said.
Through this activity, FEB UGM hopes that professional staff approaching retirement can take advantage of the opportunity to design a balanced life plan that incorporates health, social activities, and wise financial management. This training also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in achieving healthy and prosperous lives.
