The Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Economics and Business Alumni Association (KAFEGAMA), through its KAFEGAMA Peduli programme, distributed Rp200 million in humanitarian aid to communities affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra Barat Province. KAFEGAMA distributed the aid evenly to four affected areas, namely Padang City, Tanah Datar Regency, Agam Regency, and Pesisir Selatan Regency.
The distribution of aid was attended by the Executive Secretary of the KAFEGAMA Central Board, Vicky Yuwandy, accompanied by the Chair of the West Sumatra KAFEGAMA Regional Board, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Andalas University, Prof. Dr. Fery Andrianus. Vicky explained that this rapid response was a direct instruction from the Chair of KAFEGAMA, Dr. Friderica Widyasari Dewi. The aid is expected to alleviate the burden on the community that has lost its homes and belongings due to the disaster.
“We are here based on the instructions of the Chairwoman to oversee and distribute aid directly to the evacuation posts. The funds collected from the donation drive on 1-10 December 2025 reached Rp200 million for West Sumatra Province, with each area receiving an allocation of Rp50 million,” said Vicky.
The distribution began on December 15, 2025, in Padang City. The aid was handed over directly to the Mayor of Padang, Fadly Amran. The provided assistance consisted of post-disaster emergency supplies, specifically a complete set of cooking equipment, including a gas stove, a 3 kg gas cylinder, and other kitchen utensils.
Next, on December 16, 2025, the team headed to Tanah Datar Regency and was received by Regent Eka Putra. The regent expressed his gratitude for the concern shown by the FEB UGM alums. For technical distribution in the field, the team coordinated with Ahmad Fadly, Deputy Regent of Tanah Datar, at the Batu Taba command post to ensure that the aid was received directly by the community. The agenda in West Sumatra continued on December 17, 2025, with the distribution of assistance to Pesisir Selatan, followed by Agam Regency, with the distribution scheduled for December 18, 2025.
Vicky added that KAFEGAMA Peduli’s social action does not stop in West Sumatra. The distribution of donations will continue until December 20, 2025, to the North Sumatra and Aceh regions.
“We will continue our journey to North Sumatra and Aceh to distribute similar aid, in collaboration with the local KAFEGAMA Regional Management, so that the positive impact of these donations can be more widespread,” said Vicky.
The Head of the Sumatra Barat KAFEGAMA Regional Board, Prof. Dr. Fery Andrianus, appreciated the swift action taken by FEB UGM alums in helping communities affected by disasters in Ranah Minang. He also emphasised the importance of collaboration between alumni in the region to ensure that aid reaches its intended targets.
“We at KAFEGAMA West Sumatra feel responsible for ensuring that the mandate from our fellow alumni throughout Indonesia reaches those who need it most. KAFEGAMA’s presence here is not only to provide physical assistance, but also as a form of moral support and solidarity for our brothers and sisters in Sumatra Barat,” said Fery.
Meanwhile, Padang Mayor Fadly Amran expressed his gratitude for the assistance from KAFEGAMA. The assistance provided is very beneficial for residents who are currently being relocated to Temporary Housing (Huntara) and Flats (Rusun).
“Given that many residents have lost their homes and household items, these cooking utensils are a priority need so that they can be self-sufficient in preparing their daily meals,” said Fadly Amran.
