Drizzle around Bulaksumur didn’t discourage the invited guess to attend the Alumni Gathering Night at Balairung UGM’s north park on Saturday night (25/9). Tumpengan, Ketoprak Mergers,and Economics Jazz Live are packed into a series of attractive events for students, staff, faculty lecturer and alumni who attend the Gathering Night.
Gathering opened by tumpeng cutting as a celebration symbols by the Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Marwan Asri, MBA. Ph.D., accompanied by senior lecturer Dr. Soetatwo Hadiwigeno, M.A and Dr. Tony Prasetyantono, M. Sc as FEB’s 55th Anniversary Committee chairman. The entertainment events finally start with Ketoprak Merger titled "Baron Sekeber" played by employees, students, lecturers and local welknown traditional performer like Marwoto, Mbok Beruk and Gareng. While all the guest are welcome to enjoy a dish of various kinds of food.
The atmosphere then re-warmed by the appearance of wellknown Indonesian senior jazz musicians: Er Klux, Ireng & Kiboud Maulana, Karim, Yance Manusama, Sang Panuwun and Didik SSS. That play Instrumental Jazz songs. Followed by a beautiful vocal performance by Citra Idol, Margie Segers, and Harvey Malaiholo. Not to forget, two of FEB UGM’s senior lecturers Soetatwo Hadiwigeno and Budiono Sri Handoko also brighten the athmosphere with their golden voice. Alumni Gathering Night were closed with a beautiful duets by Margie Segers and Harvey Malaiholo.

"... This Lustrum hopefully be a good momentum for all of us to closely gather, strengthen the cooperation, go together to achieve this vision ..." Dean's quote, Prof. Marwan Asri, MBA, Ph.D in his speech to celebrate the 55th anniversary of FEB UGM.
The Dean’s speech and scientific oration are officially opened by the Chairman of Senate FEB UGM Prof. Dr. Iswardono Sardjono Permono, M.A. The Dean’s speech is delivered as for the report to stakeholders about the progress and results achieved by the academia of FEB UGM. This year’s celebration brings up Go Green: Taking Nature Into Account. In his speech Prof. Marwan Asri, MBA., Ph.D addresses, "With such theme, Go Green: Taking Nature Into Account, It is hoped that all academia of FEB UGM always consider the surrounding environment; both natural and social in their motion. Harmonization and environmentally activities must be re-invested in order to create continuous life and our life itself. Furthermore; FEB UGM hopes to be able to become one of the pioneers in development economics and business by incorporating elements of nature preservation in it, taking nature into account."
In his speech, the dean presents the academic achievement: students profile, the increasing trend of study program interest, as well as international accreditation process of AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business), which still requires more commitment and effort from all the academia of FEB UGM. In administration’s issues it is mentioned that an increase in the budget for the improvement of physical facilities, improving the quality of teaching and learning process also improving the welfare of academia of FEB UGM.
Meanwhile FEB UGM’s collaboration with university partner on student exchange and double degree also run well. By 1st Semester, 2010/2011 Undergraduate Program send 25 students and received 26 foreign students to attend the program. Collaboration with other institutions / companies are running smoothly as well, including scholarships, internship opportunities and job recruitment.
On his speech, the Dean also mentioned about tracer study feature on portal alumni, EBiz Newsletter (faculty information media), and Student Service Center (SSC). Furthermore, the Dean also appreciate lecturers, staff and students achievement during this last one year. At the end of the speech the Dean, announced research and training institutions inside FEB UGM merger under Research and Training Faculty of Economics and Business (P2EB), a lobby renovation and Pertamina Tower development plans.
On this occation, Prof. Dr. Swastha Dharmesta Basu, MBA also present his scientific papers, called "Green Marketing: Standard Submitting a Better Life". This paper mainly said that green marketing can be achieved through intensive efforts to identify and understand their customers by offering green environmentally friendly products, mutually benefit relationship between green marketers and green customers, and fair competition would be a good trigger to achieve goals.
The green customers could give a wide positive impact on communities life, in terms of economic, social, politics, legal, technology, culture and natural environment." This event closed with a prayer led by Drs. Dumairy, MA for the glory of FEB UGM.

To celebrate the 55th anniversary of FEB UGM, students held an event bringing the concept of and for students "Student Week 2010." The event is officially opened by the Dean of FEB UGM, Prof. Marwan Asri, MBA., Ph.D on September 20, 2010 and is marked with releasing the balloons and cutting the cake.
The agenda of Student Week includes Research Exhibition (September,20, 2010), Entrepreneurship Bazaar (September 20-21, 2010), Photo Exhibition (September 20-25, 2010) and students’ performances of each Study Program Club. In the Entrepreneurship bazaars, the stand booths are filled by students selling food and beverages, clothing, and knick-knacks. The more interesting is the international students from Germany, the Netherlands and Finland who are taking Exchange and Double Degree Program at FEB UGM also liven up the event by providing special cuisine of their respective countries: Potato salad, meat balls and ginger cookies. Talk show of "Research and Entrepreneurship" is also organized by inviting Saptuari Sugiharto (Kedai Digital owner), Dwi Kartika Sari (Goeboek Coffee Seturan owner) and Firmansyah Budi Prasetyo (Cokro Tela Cake owner).

Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM FEB) held a regular event of welcoming international student, who do their exchange and double degree program at FEB, called Academic Coaching and Welcome cocktail. This event took place at the University Club UGM, on Monday, August 23, 2010, start at 4 pm, continued with breakfasting & dinner.
This event was attended by FEB UGM international students (24 exchange students & 2 double degree students) mostly from country in Europe, their student ambassador (FEB student who assigned to assist international students during their first settlement at Indonesia), faculty management Board, students representatives (Student Excecutive Board), OIA and student affairs staff.
The Academic Coaching and Welcome Cocktail was opened with speech from Dean of FEB UGM Prof. Marwan Asri, M.B.A., Ph.D, welcoming all the international student and hope that they will enjoy their study time at FEB UGM. A brief Introduction from student executive board (BEM) followed the dean’s speech, explaining their activities that enable international student to join. International student and student ambassador then introduce themselves, continued with the Academic coaching by Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Community Service, Dr. B.M. Purwanto, M.B.A,. Dr. Purwanto explained the academic calendar and academic rules applied at FEB UGM. This event got a surprised visit from the Rector of UGM Prof. Dr. Ir. Sudjarwadi, M.Eng, who stopped by and give short speech on welcoming international student and a short message that UGM are on their way to be a World Class Research University.
The Welcome Cocktail was held in a relax but festive atmosphere, toned by a simple performance by few of international student, who sing their folk song and closed with breakfasting & dinner together.

FEB UGM has just held "Educational Workforce Grant Program Competition 2010," which target is the educational staff in the Faculty of Economics and Business. This competition aims to improve the quality of service in all parts or sub-section at FEB UGM and to encourage the educational staff to constantly think creative and innovate in carrying out the job more effectively and efficiently.
There were 18 proposals submitted, and after reviewed by the faculty management board, five proposals were given the grants. This grant program will be funded by the faculty with a maximum budget of IDR 17.5 million (for each proposal). Here's the list of the proposals that won the grant program:
- Capacity Building In Order To Achieve Performance Efficiency in the Finance Department, proposer Lina Kartika Sari S.E.
- Development of Integrated Digital Archive Letters Systems in the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, proposer Ariyani Suntatri
- Fire and Emergency Countermeasures Against and Others in the Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, proposer Teguh Sulistiyono A.Md.
- Effectiveness of Time, Costs, Expanding Access to Care In Efficient and Environment Through Ebiz Newsletter Online, proposer Hestining Kurniastuti S.S.
- Information System of Quality Assurance Faculty of Economics and Business UGM, Web-based, proposer Bondan Wijanarko S.I.P., M.Si.
Programs proposed in the proposals will be conducted starting in September 2010. This grant program is hoped to be successful in achieving its goal, which in term will support the success of the faculty.
