Sixty-four years ago, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) was established. Initially, education and teaching economics at Universitas Gadjah Mada, carried out by the Department of Economics which is coordinated by the Law Department, Faculty of Law, Economics, Social and Politics (Faculty of HESP). Starting in the academic year 1952/1953, Minister of Education and Teaching Decree No. 29512/Kab., "Department" status for teaching economics has been upgraded to "Section" at the Faculty of Law, Economics, Social and Politics (Faculty of HESP). In further developments, starting from the 1955/1956 academic year, the HESP Faculty was divided into 3 faculties namely the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Social and Politics, all of which occupy the Yogyakarta Palace Performance. The UGM Faculty of Economics (before changing its name to FEB) itself is the third state faculty of economics in Indonesia, after FE Universitas Hasanudin in Makassar and FE Universitas Indonesia in Jakarta.

In 2019, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held its 64th Anniversary. One of the agendas implemented was Tumpengan and Art Night which was held on Wednesday (18/9). This shows that FEB UGM not only emphasizes international achievements but also preserves culture with art. This art performance is a collaboration of lecturers, education staff, students, and Dharma Wanita FEB UGM supported by the UGM academic community. By performing arts, FEB UGM contributes to the development of Indonesia, namely to produce superior human resources and have social maturity.

Saturday (09/14) Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) held the 7th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Economics and Business (GAMAICEB) 2019. Located at Learning Center of FEB UGM , this conference carrying the theme of Creative Economy: Trends, Opportunities, and Challenges.

There was a different atmosphere on Sunday (9/15). Unusually, the lecturers and staff and their families were seen wearing casual suits. The Faculty of Economics and Business, Gadjah Mada University (FEB UGM) held a joint sports event called "Family Fun Day" as a series of events commemorating the 64th Anniversary of FEB UGM. Family Fun Day 2018 is one of a series of 64th FEB UGM Anniversary events with the theme "Unity to Strengthen Quality". Located at the FEB UGM Plaza, the event was attended by the Dean, all lecturers, employees, several partners and the whole family.

Upon succeeding to achieve re-accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) continuously shows its commitment in becoming one of the leading business schools. FEB UGM has officially taken part as a member in Global Business School Network (GBSN) starting July 2019. GBSN is an international non-profit organization working to strengthen the network of leading business schools to contribute in fulfilling the needs for future managers, entrepreneurs, as well as leaders in developing countries by improving the access to relevant quality management education in a local atmosphere. FEB UGM believes that their membership in GBSN serves as a way for business schools to build relationships with fellow like-minded colleagues around the world to contribute in programs designed to train and develop member schools and to seek new opportunities to grow and thrive in a global scale.

Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Gadjah Mada (FEB UGM) in the framework of the 64th anniversary held the 4th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Islamic Economics and Development (GAMAICIED), 4th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Islamic Accounting and Finance (GAMAICIAF), and 4th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Islamic Business Research (GAMAICIBR). The international conference was held in the 8th Floor Auditorium of the Center for Learning of the Faculty of Economics and Business, (30-31/08).
